Abstract
The 3D full-field deformation of a carbon fiber/epoxy composite pressure vessel are studied using a 3D digital speckle correlation method. The basic principles of 3D digital speckle correlation method are briefly introduced. The 3D full field displacement and strain distribution of the composite pressure vessel were evaluated under internal pressure loading. The average strain value shows good agreement with the results obtained from conventional electrical-resistance strain gauge technology. The results reveal that the 3D digital speckle correlation method is suitable for deformation measurement of composite pressure vessels in real engineering practice.
