New polymeric metal ion scavengers with polyamine podand moieties

A group of new, transition metal cation scavengers based on polyamine podands and of excellent ion-binding capacity, were synthesized. Their structures as well as the structures of their complexes with metal ions were studied by spectroscopic methods. The isotherms of cation binding and kinetics of this process were studied. The materials obtained were also characterized by thermal methods.
