Abstract
Deprotection of oximes, phenylhydrazones, p-nitrophenylhydrazones, semicarbazones and tosylhydrazones to their parent aldehydes and ketones was efficiently achieved by using sodium nitrite in the presence of Amberlyst 15. The reactions were performed in dioxane in high yields at 70 °C. It is observed that addition of a few drops of water considerably enhances the reaction rate.
