Mixed-addenda 10-molybdo-2-vanadophosphoric heteropolyacid (H5PV2Mo10O40): An efficient catalyst under solvent-free conditions for rapid acylation of alcohols

Rapid and efficient acylation of various primary, secondary and tertiary alcohols proceeds with acetic anhydride in the presence of catalytic amount of H5PV2Mo10O40 under solvent-free conditions at room temperature. The corresponding acetates were obtained in very high yields with dramatic reduction of reaction time in comparison with other reported methods.
