Abstract
A new square-planar nickel(II) complex bearing 2-((3-methylthiophen-2-yl)methylene)-N-phenylhydrazinecarbothioamide was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, NMR, and single crystal X-ray crystallographic technique. The new complex acts as an effective homogeneous catalyst for the Sonogashira reaction of phenylacetylene with various aryl halides (iodides and bromides) under optimized conditions.
