Abstract
Several novel functionalised thiophenes have been synthesised via an unusual acid catalysed reaction of S-acetyl fimbrolides. The crystal structure analysis of one of the thiophene products reveals interesting intermolecular hydrogen bonding and carbonyl-carbonyl (COâ¯CO) dipolar interactions.
