Abstract
An efficient route for the construction of a novel benzofuran-containing spirolactone skeleton via copper-catalyzed heterodimerization of 1,2-diarylcyclopropenones followed by sequential demethylations of highly strained cyclopropene-derived spirolactones is reported.
