Abstract
Photoassisted Fenton mineralisation of an azo dye Acid Violet 7 was studied in detail using a Fe(III) loaded Al2O3 as a heterogeneous catalyst in the presence of H2O2 and UV-A light. The catalyst ferrioxalate–Al2O3 is more efficient than ferricnitrate–Al2O3. 35% Fe3+ loaded Al2O3 shows maximum efficiency in the degradation. The effects of reaction parameters such as catalyst loading, H2O2 concentration, initial solution pH and initial dye concentration on photodegradation were investigated and the optimum conditions are reported.
