An expeditious regioselective synthesis of [60]fullerene e,e,e tris-adduct building blocks

A threefold Bingel reaction between C60 and t-butyl(trialkoxy)silane derivatives bearing three malonate substituents gave access to fullerene e,e,e tris adducts. Subsequent desilylation with HF·pyridine or BF3·Et2O afforded the corresponding fullerene tris-adducts bearing three alcohol functions.
