Abstract
A novel retro-reaction strategy has been used to design a highly selective Cu2+ fluorescent chemodosimeter in the form of a C9 acridane-chelate. The fluorescence amplification is the result of the release of a strongly fluorescent acridinium ion at the expense of the weakly emitting probe.
