Abstract
Simple and efficient protocols for the construction of substituted indanes and oxazolines through intramolecular cyclization of β-hydroxyarylethanamide using trifluoromethanesulfonic acid and titanium tetrachloride in 1,2-dichloroethane respectively have been described. The selectivity due to different acid catalysts was explored and optimized to achieve good to excellent yield.
