Abstract
Highly functionalized heterocycles were synthesized in one-pot reactions of 2-alkylimidazoles or 2-methylbenzimidazoles with 1,3-diacid chlorides. Some of the cyclizations proceed through cyclic-N,Nâ²-ketene acetal intermediates.
