Abstract
Photochemical and enzymatic formic acid synthesis from CO2 gas system with the combination of formate dehydrogenase (FDH) from Saccharomyces cerevisiae and methylviologen (MV2+) reduction by the visible light photosensitisation of Mg chlorophyll-a (Mg Chl-a) is developed. Photochemical formic acid produced from CO2 by adding FDH to the MV2+ photoreduction system using photosensitisation of Mg Chl-a in the presence of NADPH as an electron donating reagent, and 56 μM of formic acid from CO2 gas is produced after 4 h irradiation (1.0 M = 1.0 mol dm−3).
