Abstract
A facile route for the synthesis of 11,11-dimethyl-bisbenzopyran-5-ones ring system is described. The key step, the late stage oxidation of the allylic methylene group was achieved by benzyl(triethyl)ammonium permanganate in CH2Cl2.
