Abstract
An efficient and expeditious microwave-assisted synthesis of 4-azafluorenone derivatives and related compounds is accomplished via a multi-component reaction of an aldehyde, 1,3-indanedione, an arone and ammonium acetate. It is an efficient and promising synthetic strategy to build indenopyridine skeleton.
