Abstract
Associates between the chiral phosphoric acids and Boc-protected imine were characterized computationally and by NMR; the primary importance of the bulky protecting group in imine for the high enantioselectivity in the direct Mannich reaction is rationalized via the analysis of the stereodiscriminating intermediates.
