Abstract
23-Carba-oxybenziporphyrins, a new group of dicarbaporphyrinoids, are easily prepared by reacting tripyrrane analogues derived from resorcinol or 2-methylresorcinol with an indene dialdehyde under MacDonald '3+1' conditions.
