Abstract
Irradiation of N-triphenylmethyloxy- or N-diphenylmethyloxy phthalimide is reported to result in the formation of phthalimide N-oxyl radical (PINO), which is able to initiate and propagate oxidative radical chain reactions of hydrocarbons.
