Abstract
The reduction of a commercial, prereduced ammonia iron catalyst has been studied using thermogravimetry. A model with the first order kinetic equation has been applied in the reduction of the passive layer of the catalyst. The reduction rate was found to be inversely proportional to the iron oxidation degree. The apparent activation energy of the reduction was 60 kJ/mol.
