Abstract

A 7-lump kinetic model is proposed to describe the catalytic pyrolysis of heavy oil. The kinetic model contains 15 kinetic constants and one for catalyst deactivation. The experimental data were obtained in a confined fluidized bed reactor. The kinetic constants were estimated by a special program compiled based on the Marquardt’s algorithm. The apparent activation energies were calculated according to the Arrhenius equation. This model fits the experimental data well. The prediction shows that catalytic pyrolysis of Chinese Daqing atmospheric residue should be conducted at low space velocity to produce much ethene and at space velocity around 15 h−1 to produce much propene and butene.
