Abstract
- The rolling contact fatigue failure procedure of Fe-based alloy coating was quantitatively described by fractal dimension of worn surface profiles at different period.
- The structure function method was utilized to calculate fractal dimension of worn profiles.
- The failure procedure could be divided into four stages according to the value and change rule of FD, i.e. (1) running-in stage, (2) stable abrade stage, (3) accelerated damage stage, (4) unstable removal stage.
- The rolling contact failure mechanism at different stage was discussed through observation of surface morphologies.
