Abstract
												- Impact of Co content and pretreatment conditions on Co/CeO2 surface chemistry.
- The improved reducibility of Co/CeO2 compared to single oxides is disclosed.
- A synergistic effect between Co and Ce toward more oxygen vacancies is revealed.
- Calcination procedure leads to the impoverishment of catalyst surface on cobalt.
- Reduction results in a uniform distribution of Co and Ce on the catalyst surface.
