Abstract
⺠We report optical gas sensing on butterfly wing scale nanostructures. ⺠The Polyommatinae species in the study possesses “pepper-pot” structure. ⺠The concentration dependence of the signal amplitude is close to linear. ⺠The sensitivity is increasing with the decrease of the sample temperature.
