Abstract
⺠Surface treatment of Ti alloy by electric discharge machining, etching and shot peening. ⺠Surface topography enhances the proliferation of osteoblast-like cells. ⺠Shot peening improves poor fatigue performance after electric discharge machining. ⺠Proposed three-step surface treatment is well applicable in orthopedics.
