Abstract
⺠We analyze if the LIPSS appear due to excitation of surface plasmon waves. ⺠We demonstrate that the excitation conditions of surface plasmons are not fulfilled. ⺠Properties of the periodic pattern differ from that of the surface plasmonic waves. ⺠We conclude that the surface plasmons cannot explain the periodic patterns.
