Abstract

- Superhydrophobic steel surface with flower-like structures was prepared through a facile method: the synergetic corrosion of H2O2 and H2SO4, followed by the treatment of silanes.
- The surface modification was proved to be realized in the oxidized area, and that the H2O2 is crucial for the surface grafting efficiency.
- The resultant superhydrophobic surfaces exhibited superior anti/delay icing property in extremely condensing condition.
- The prepared superhydrophobic surface exhibited superior UV-durability.
