Abstract
⺠Results from microstructural characterization of the corroded heat exchanger are reported. ⺠The bulk material contained austenite and ferrite, with the latter being preferentially attacked. ⺠Corrosion had occurred as microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC). ⺠A mechanism by which the corrosion attack had proceeded is suggested.
