Abstract
► Antibacterial steel surfaces with different copper content have been prepered. ► The antibacterial rate increased with increasing time of contacting the bacteria. ► The higher the amount of surface copper, the better is the antibacterial efficacy. ► Cu-ions were dissolved from the Cu-alloyed surface, killing the bacteria.
