Abstract

- Zr doped and Li2ZrO3 coated Li4Ti5O12 are prepared by a solid-state method.
- Zr-doping and LZO coating are positive in improving lithium diffusion ability.
- Li2ZrO3 coated Li4Ti5O12 deliver 168.1 mAh g−1 higher than 150.2 mAh g−1 of Li4Ti5O12.
- Li2ZrO3 coated Li4Ti5O12 remains 162 mAh g−1 after 100 cycles.
- The lowest DLi+ is 5.97 × 10−17 and 1.85 × 10−15 cm2 s−1 of Li4Ti5O12 before and after coating.
