Abstract
- We studied the adsorption ability and mechanisms of polar molecules on a-C:H.
- Alcohol and fatty-acid molecules adsorb onto the surface oxides and hydroxides.
- The fatty acid shows better adsorption ability than the alcohol toward a-C:H.
- The superior adsorption of the acid appears to lead to less wear than the alcohol.
- The quantity and bonding of the adsorbed molecules are not affected by sonication cleaning.
