Abstract
► TiO2 fibres grown by the laser floating zone technique for the first time. ► Magnetic, optical and structural characterization was performed. ► Structured luminescence with two zero-phonon lines followed by a phonon sideband. ► Fe3+ and Cr3+ present as substitutional impurities alongside with Ti3+ interstitials. ► A discussion of the chemical nature of the defect responsible for the luminescence is performed.
