Abstract
► NiTi was surface modified by plasma electrolytic oxidation in Na3PO4 electrolyte. ► Sub-micron sized pores were generated at 300 V. ► O, Ti, P, Ni and a Ni/Ti atomic ratio of 0.4 were detected by EDS analyses. ► Wettability and surface free energy increased after oxidation. ► Attractive surface features for biomedical applications.
