Abstract
⺠Significant effect of interface roughness on the surface cracking behavior in film/substrate system. ⺠Oscillatory distributions of strain energy release rate. ⺠Surface cracking in the film can be arrested locally. ⺠Rough interface can enhance the durability of film/substrate system with multiple cracks.
