Abstract
- Impacting particulate sprays to transform hydrophobic PTFE to superhydrophobic was studied.
- Simple masking allows regions on surface to exhibit hydrophobic and superhydrophobic features.
- Surface bulging can be limited by reducing angle of impingement and bonding to rigid base.
- Finite element model permits surface bulging to be characterized as surface traction forces.
- Finite element model permits the strength of adhesive needed to eliminate bulging.
