Abstract
⺠We studied the wing membrane of Drosophila melanogaster with atomic force microscopy. ⺠We report the structure, elasticity, and adhesion on the wing membrane in air and nitrogen environments. ⺠Results provide insight into the nature of the wing membrane enabling the development of biomimetic surface and micro air vehicles.
