Abstract
⺠The nanoscale scratching characteristics of using a pyramidal tip was experientially studied. ⺠Both the scratched profile and the scratch force were greatly affected by the scratch direction. ⺠To minimize the ridge formation, the tip face should be perpendicular to the scratching direction.
