Influence of ordering change on the optical and thermal properties of inflation polyethylene films

▶ Micro-scale fabrication inside HDPE inflation film was carried out with 0.5-2 μm pitch. ▶ Thermal diffusivity was determined using a micro-scale sensor with the thermal wave method. ▶ Thermal diffusivity increases 20% by the femto-second laser structuring. ▶ Birefringence modulation as high as Δn ∼ 1 × 10−3 can be recorded with laser irradiating sites. ▶ The relaxing of main polymer orientation or local change ordering on a micro-scale is induced.
