Abstract
▶ Nanosecond laser radiation at λ = 532 nm results in efficient heating of gold nanoparticles. ▶ The laser heating can be sufficient to modify material located in close vicinity of the particle, as the affected zone is comparable to the particle size. ▶ Gold nanoparticle-assisted photothermal therapy of cancer cells demonstrates the potential of this method in efficient treatment of cancer.
