Abstract
⺠The N2 molecule has 9510 states, including quasi-bound states. ⺠The lifetimes of such quasibound states are mostly long-lived. ⺠Rotational dissociation 1-2 orders of magnitude below vibrational dissociation. ⺠Contribution of quasi-bound states to the overall dissociation rate is negligible. ⺠At high temperatures, vibrational equilibration precedes rotational equilibration.
