Abstract
⺠Unwinding of single DNA braids attached to a dumbbell without external manipulation. ⺠Torque stored in DNA braids is efficiently transformed into mechanical work. ⺠Use of hydrodynamic equations to directly estimate the torque stored in DNA braids. ⺠Estimated torque values ranged from 47 to 166 pN nm.
