Abstract
The laser induced selective excitation for a three-state model of the Na2 molecule is theoretically investigated by using the time-dependent wavepacket method. Employing a pair of ultrashort laser pulses of varying intensities, the vibrational population can be selectively transferred between different electronic states. The selective excitation can also be achieved by controlling the delay time between the pump and probe pulses. The dynamics processes of the selective excitation are qualitatively described via the concept of light-induced potentials.
