Abstract
The geometry around Pt centers of a defined oligomer, trans-{Cl[Pt(PBu3)2CCC6H4C6H4CC]9Pt(PBu3)2Cl}, was assessed by XAS experiments performed on the basis of the X-ray single crystal structure of a model dinuclear complex trans,trans-[ClPt(PBu3)2CCC6H4C6H4CCPt(PBu3)2Cl]. This study allowed to confirm the reliability of XAS experimental data for the elucidation of complicated molecular structures of compounds that cannot be obtained in crystalline form, such as for example organometallic rod-like polymers.
