Abstract
The application of the quantum theory of atoms in molecules on charge electron distributions obtained at diverse computational levels indicates the lack of intramolecular hydrogen bond in the most stable conformers of small carboxylic acids. The theory is also applied to gain insight about the stabilization of the favoured conformation.
