Abstract
The ballistic conductance of a magnetic-quantum wire (M-QW) sandwiched between two semi-infinite paramagnetic leads has been studied fully analytically. In this work, we extract a new general formula which relates the electrical conductance to transfer matrix for an isolated cell in the system. This formula describes exactly the dependence of conductance on Fermi energy, wire hopping terms, and magnetic wire-length for a sandwiched M-QW. Also, we calculate the conductance for a uniform and periodic M-QW system, analytically. Our calculations can be generalized to any type of M-QW within one electron approximation, and also can be applied to magnetic superlattices and multilayers, where these results may be useful in designing of spintoronic devices.
