Abstract
- Pt (111) hexagonal surface with tripod (four Pt atoms) geometry is investigated.
- Aforementioned system is magnetic without the application of an electric field (EF).
- External EF (±0.5 V/à ) alters the spin magnetic moment per Pt atom and/or unit cell.
- The shifting of DOS at EF due to applied EF play important role in tuning magnetism.
- Screening of an external EF, shifting of electronic bands at EF also tune magnetism.
- Negative EF enhances the spin magnetic moment of tripod Pt atom as well as unit cell.
- Positive EF reduces the spin magnetic moment of tripod Pt atom as well as unit cell.
