Abstract
- Quantum chemical calculations have predicted a new carbon family with wavy forms.
- The wavy carbons are composed of tetravalent carbon atoms with four single bonds.
- The wavy-Cn sheets (n = 2, 6, and 8) consist of periodic arrays of four-membered rings.
- The wavy-C36 tube has a four-fold symmetry with periodic arrays of four-membered rings.
- The chemical energies of the wavy carbons are 206-253Â kJÂ molâ1 per one carbon atom.
