Abstract
- Different possible mechanisms of fragmentation of uracil protonated at position O8 are examined.
- The most favored channel is the retro Diels-Alder reaction.
- Four theoretical main fragmentation channels have been proposed.
- With a high energy, the primary cations can dissociate into small fragments.
