Abstract
- Stilbene isomerization rates k(λexc) in solution weakly depend on λexc.
- The k(λexc) dependence in solution cannot be reproduced with current theories.
- Experimental results can be explained by adding a solvent contribution to the rate.
- The rate in solution can be the sum of intramolecular and solvent contribution.
- A particular activation mechanism by solvent collisions is discussed.
