Abstract
⺠Non-exponential decay of the metastable states for short times due to vibration-translation energy transfer. ⺠A purely vibrational coupling mechanism is consistent with observed lifetimes. ⺠The lifetimes of the antisymmetric stretching mode are well reproduced with the current model.
