Abstract
⺠Intermediate coupling of 5f Shell in actinide cations. ⺠New criteria to measure angular momentum and sub-shell occupation. ⺠Spin alignment follows Hund's rules for half-filled 5f shell. ⺠XPS of core-levels reflects 5f shell angular momentum coupling. ⺠Magnetic moments in actinide cations will be reduced.
